Thirty multiple-choice questions with four options and a minimum of 75 % of the total score. Wrong answers do not subtract and you get two attempts per registration. Before A2 you need A1/A3 and the practical self-training in A3 conditions.

What is the A2 exam like?
Thirty multiple-choice questions with four options and exactly one correct, a thirty-minute limit, 75 % of the score to pass, no deduction for a wrong answer and two attempts per registration. The European rule only requires “at least thirty questions” and 75 %; the rest of the conditions are published by AESA in its A1/A3 and A2 training scheme.
What do you need before sitting A2?
Two things, in this order: passing the A1/A3 online course and exam, and completing the practical self-training in A3 operating conditions. That order is set by point 2 of section UAS.OPEN.030.
Which subjects are examined?
Three: meteorology, UAS flight performance, and technical and operational ground-risk mitigation. There are few of them, and almost every mistake happens inside them.
Can I be exempt from the A2 exam?
Yes, in one specific case: if you already hold the remote pilot theoretical knowledge certificate for standard scenarios in the specific category, the system detects it, exempts you from registering and passing the A2 exam, and issues the competency certificate automatically. If that is you, you do not need this app.
Where is the exam held?
AESA runs it on its own training platform, remotely proctored with SMOWL, so your machine must allow access to the camera, microphone and screen. Registration is free through the electronic office.
How long is the competency certificate valid?
Five years from the date of issue, the same as the A1/A3 training.
