UK Work Licence Tests 2026

App for taxi safeguarding and the Personal Licence

Two assessments that UK licensing authorities require in order to work, in the same app. The safeguarding and disability awareness test is required of taxi and private hire drivers: twenty questions, forty minutes, 80 % to pass. The Personal Licence (APLH, level 2) is needed to sell alcohol: forty questions in sixty minutes with 70 %. Every question quotes the statute or official guidance it comes from.

Who it is for

Taxi and private hire drivers in England and Wales, and anyone who needs a Personal Licence to sell alcohol.

The exam

How it is marked

Safeguarding: 20 questions in 40 minutes with 80 % to pass — most authorities publish that threshold, and Wolverhampton, the largest by number of PHV drivers, sets 75 %, so the app is at least as strict as your own test. Personal Licence: 40 questions in 60 minutes and 28 correct answers, the BIIAB format.

FAQ

Frequently asked

Which two exams does the app cover?

The safeguarding and disability awareness test that licensing authorities require of taxi and private hire drivers, and the Level 2 Award for Personal Licence Holders (APLH), needed to sell alcohol.

What is the safeguarding pass mark?

Most authorities publish 80 %, and the app uses that. Wolverhampton, the largest by number of PHV drivers, sets 75 %, so the mock is at least as strict as your own test.

And the Personal Licence one?

Forty questions in sixty minutes and twenty-eight correct answers, the BIIAB exam format.

Does it apply across England?

The content rests on national law — the Licensing Act 2003, the Equality Act 2010, Department for Transport standards — and on authority guidance. Procedural details are set by each council, so check the threshold and format with yours.

Do I need to sign up?

No. No accounts, no email, and it works offline.
