What counts is the maximum authorised mass, not the unladen weight: the combination adds up to 2,500 kg for the car and 1,000 kg for the trailer, that is, 3,500 kg. If the combination does not exceed 3,500 kg, the B licence is enough even if the trailer is over 750 kg (Article 4 of the General Driver Regulations).
