The exam

What the theory exam looks like

The category B knowledge test has 30 questions, each with 3 possible answers and exactly one correct. You get one minute per question and pass with at most 3 mistakes: the regulation allows no more than 10 % wrong answers.

In this mock exam an unanswered question counts as a mistake.

How many questions are in the category B theory exam?

Thirty, each with three possible answers and exactly one correct. You have 30 minutes: the General Drivers Regulation sets one minute per question.

How many mistakes can I make and still pass?

Three at most. The regulation allows mistakes up to 10 % of the questions; with 30 questions that is 3 mistakes, or 27 correct answers. In this mock exam an unanswered question counts as a mistake.

Are these the official DGT questions?

No. The DGT does not publish its official question bank. These are practice questions in the same format: three answers, one correct, many with a picture. Each one comes with the answer and an explanation.

Is it up to date with the October 2026 changes?

Yes. The bank has been checked against Royal Decree 518/2026, which amends the General Traffic Regulation from 1 October 2026: overtaking cyclists, helmets and gloves on motorcycles, urban traffic and more.

Can I take the exam in English?

Yes. For category B the DGT offers the theory exam in Spanish, the co-official languages, English, French and German. You choose the language on the exam application (DGT form 04).
