Explanation
Even if the tunnel is well lit, lights are compulsory at any time of day. According to Article 101.1 of the General Traffic Regulations, in sufficiently lit tunnels every motor vehicle must have its dipped (short-range) headlights on as well as its sidelights. The road lighting does not replace them.
