Correct answer
- CPara disminuir el ruido de las explosiones producidas en el motor. To reduce the noise of the explosions produced in the engine.
Explanation
The silencer, located in the exhaust pipe, dampens the noise made by the engine's explosions as the gases leave. It does not increase the revs or clean the harmful gases; that is the job of the catalytic converter. Driving with an open exhaust, without a silencer, is prohibited (Article 7.2 of the General Traffic Regulations, RGC).
