Under Article 88.2 of the General Traffic Regulations (RGC), as worded by RD 518/2026, on a stretch where overtaking is prohibited you may overtake cyclists, mopeds, personal mobility vehicles, pedestrians, animals, animal-drawn vehicles and special agricultural vehicles, even if you have to occupy the opposite direction, if they are travelling at a speed that allows you to do so without risk. Under Article 85.4, you must leave a safety gap of at least 1.5 metres and, outside built-up areas, reduce your speed by at least 20 km/h below the road's speed limit.
