Under Article 130 of the General Traffic Regulations, a vehicle immobilised by a breakdown, including on the hard shoulder, is signalled with the hazard warning lights and the regulation hazard warning device. Since 1 January 2026 this device is the V-16 light; warning triangles are no longer valid.
