Variable message panels are used to regulate traffic, adapting it to changing traffic conditions. They are used to give drivers information, warn them of possible dangers and give recommendations or compulsory instructions. The changes these panels make to the usual road signs and road markings end when the panel itself says so or when the reasons for them end; from that moment the usual signs and markings apply again.
