Run-flat tyres are designed to let you control the vehicle if you get a puncture and to keep driving for a limited distance, usually about 80-100 kilometres, at a maximum speed of about 80 km/h, depending on the model and the manufacturer's recommendations. This is possible thanks to their reinforced sidewalls, which can carry the vehicle's weight even when there is no air pressure. This allows the driver to reach a safe place or a garage without having to change the punctured tyre straight away.
