As a general rule, BUS-HOV (BUS-VAO) lanes may be used by two- or three-wheeled motorcycles, cars, buses with a maximum authorised mass of more than 3,500 kg, articulated buses and convertible dual-purpose vehicles carrying the number of occupants set for each stretch. All other vehicles and vehicle combinations are prohibited, including cars towing trailers, cycles and mopeds. However, they may also be used, even with only the driver on board, by: - the authorised types of vehicle if they display the V-15 sign (reduced mobility badge); - two- or three-wheeled motorcycles; - buses with a maximum authorised mass of more than 3,500 kg and articulated buses; - vehicles classed as taxis under the use criteria in Annex II of the General Vehicle Regulations, with an external roof light and a valid taxi licence; - police, fire, civil protection, rescue and ambulance vehicles on an emergency call, and maintenance crews for the road's facilities and infrastructure; - vehicles with environmental badges (CERO, ECO, B and C) may use the BUS-HOV lane only when road signs say so.
