A driver who notices that a vehicle behind intends to overtake them is obliged to keep to the right-hand edge of the carriageway to make the overtaking vehicle's manoeuvre easier, except when turning or changing direction to the left or stopping on that side. The driver of the vehicle being overtaken is obliged to reduce speed when, once overtaking has started, a situation arises that is dangerous for their own vehicle, for the overtaking vehicle, for oncoming traffic or for any other road user.
