Article 79 of the General Traffic Regulations prohibits, as a general rule, U-turns on stretches where overtaking is prohibited, unless the U-turn is expressly authorised. They are also not allowed in tunnels, on level crossings, or on motorways (autopistas) and dual carriageways (autovías).
