In a built-up area, on carriageways with at least two lanes marked for the same direction, a driver may use the lane that best suits their destination, as long as they do not obstruct other road users (Article 33 of the General Traffic Regulations). This applies equally to motorcycles and cars, except on motorways and dual carriageways.
