In lanes with arrows painted on the road surface, the arrows show the directions a vehicle in that lane may follow. When there are several arrows in the same lane, they show the manoeuvres allowed from it, such as going straight on or turning. These markings are mandatory, so the driver must follow the directions shown. Their purpose is to organise traffic and avoid conflicts at the junction. So they are not just for information.
