Motorcycles must have at least one exterior mirror on the left side. If their maximum speed is 100 km/h or less, they may have only this mirror; if their maximum speed is over 100 km/h, they must also have a mirror on the right side. This is set out in the General Vehicle Regulations, which make clear that visibility is crucial for road safety, so the correct arrangement of mirrors is essential.
