Before leaving the driving seat we must: - Stop the engine and switch off the ignition. If you go away from the vehicle, prevent it from being used without permission. - Leave the parking brake on. - If the vehicle is left on a slope, we must: - Engage the right gear: first gear on an uphill slope and reverse gear on a downhill slope, or, where applicable, the park position. Vehicle combinations, buses and vehicles with a maximum authorised mass (MAM) over 3,500 kg must be properly chocked: - by resting one of the steering wheels against the kerb, turned towards the centre of the carriageway on uphill slopes and outwards on downhill slopes, or - by using suitable chocks; stones or other objects not designed for this purpose may not be used. The chocks must be removed before moving off.
