The following may not use motorways or dual carriageways: pedestrians, animals, animal-drawn vehicles, bicycles, mopeds and vehicles for people with reduced mobility. However, cyclists over 14 may ride on the hard shoulders of dual carriageways, unless signs prohibit it for justified road safety reasons. Such a ban is supplemented by a panel showing the alternative route.
