Under Article 118.1(b) of the General Traffic Regulations (RGC) (as worded by Royal Decree 518/2026), protective gloves are compulsory for motorcycle riders and passengers on roads outside built-up areas, not on all types of road. Even so, it is advisable to wear them always, also in summer, because in a fall your hands are the first thing to hit the ground.
