Under Article 36 of the General Traffic Regulations (RGC), vehicles with a maximum authorised mass of no more than 3,500 kg that, because of an emergency, are travelling at an abnormally low speed and seriously disrupting traffic must use the right-hand hard shoulder if it is passable and wide enough.
