Correct answer

  • ASí, por el riesgo de alcance en caso de frenada.Yes, because of the risk of a rear-end collision if it brakes.
Explanation

Driving without keeping a safe distance in front can be very dangerous, because if the driver in front brakes unexpectedly we might not have time to react and could hit them (a rear-end collision). When driving behind another vehicle, you must leave a space that allows you to stop, if it brakes suddenly, without hitting it, taking into account speed, grip and braking conditions. In addition, if you are driving without signalling that you intend to overtake, this gap must allow the vehicle behind you to overtake you safely. For this purpose, drivers of vehicles with a maximum authorised mass (MAM) over 3,500 kg and of vehicles and vehicle combinations over 10 metres long must keep a minimum gap of 50 metres. It is enough to keep a distance that avoids a collision (without the gap needed for others to overtake you): - In built-up areas. - Where overtaking is prohibited. - Where there is more than one lane in the same direction. - When traffic is congested. - When you intend to overtake.
