When we are about to be overtaken, we must keep close to the right-hand edge of the carriageway, without moving onto the hard shoulder, and we do not have to change our speed. However, we must slow down if a dangerous situation arises, unless the overtaking driver reduces their speed, and we must make it easy for them to return to their lane. The driver of the vehicle being overtaken is prohibited from speeding up or making manoeuvres that prevent or hinder the overtaking.
