The interior light (courtesy light) lets the driver, when outside light is not enough, find objects such as keys or glasses inside the car or in the glovebox, reach the vehicle documents or read a map, among other things, without dazzling or bothering other road users. Although the Regulations do not expressly prohibit it, for safety reasons it is not advisable to use it when driving on insufficiently lit roads, because the more light there is inside the vehicle, the less you can see outside. It is compulsory for public passenger transport vehicles.
