The panel showing a load that sticks out beyond the rear of the vehicle is compulsory on all vehicles, except those less than 1 metre wide, and no other device can replace it. When the load sticks out along the whole width of the rear of the vehicle, two panels are fitted and their stripes form an inverted ‘V’. Between sunset and sunrise, or in weather or environmental conditions that noticeably reduce visibility, it must be marked with the panel and with a red light. So if a car is carrying a load that sticks out beyond the rear, it must be marked correctly with this panel.
