To drive a combination of 3,800 kg, made up of a 3,000 kg car and an 800 kg trailer, a B licence plus passing the test or training for code 96 is enough (Article 5 of the General Driver Regulations). The B+E is needed only if the combination exceeds 4,250 kg.
