According to Article 36.1 of the General Traffic Regulations, special vehicles with an MAM of no more than 3,500 kg, like cycles, mopeds or animal-drawn vehicles, travel on the hard shoulder on their right if it is usable and wide enough; if not, they use only the part of the carriageway that they need.
