When a vehicle is stopped inside a tunnel or underpass because of traffic rather than a breakdown, the driver and passengers must not leave the vehicle. In this case the hazard warning lights are switched on for a while to warn drivers behind, the sidelights are kept on and the engine is switched off. The vehicle must stop as far as possible from the vehicle in front.
