It is prohibited to use motorways (autopistas) and dual carriageways (autovías) with animal-drawn vehicles, bicycles, mopeds, vehicles for people with reduced mobility and personal mobility vehicles (PMVs). However, cyclists over 14 may ride on the hard shoulders of dual carriageways (autovías), unless this is prohibited by the corresponding signs for justified road safety reasons. Such a prohibition will be accompanied by a panel showing the alternative route.
