The General Traffic Regulations (RGC) state that a flashing red light, or two alternately flashing red lights, on a circular traffic light for vehicles temporarily prohibit vehicles from passing at a level crossing, at the entrance to a movable bridge or a ferry, near an exit used by fire-fighting vehicles, or when an aircraft is approaching at low altitude.
