When overtaking animal-drawn vehicles, as with pedestrians, cyclists or mopeds, you must move partly or fully into the next or opposite lane and keep a safety gap of at least 1.5 metres; outside built-up areas you must also reduce your speed by at least 20 km/h (Article 85.4, as worded by RD 518/2026).
