When we adjust the tyre pressure with the tyres hot, we must remember that the air inside the tyres expands because of the heat. So if we adjust the pressure when hot, once the tyres cool down the pressure will go back down and will be lower than the right and necessary pressure for riding. That is why it is advisable to check and adjust the tyre pressure when cold, before making a long journey.
