In addition to the helmet, Article 118.1 of the General Traffic Regulations (RGC), as worded by RD 518/2026, requires motorcycle riders and passengers to wear protective gloves on roads outside built-up areas and closed footwear covering the whole foot on all types of road. The motorcyclist's body is directly exposed to the weather and to impacts, so clothing is essential.
