The outer fins of the engine must be cleaned regularly so that air can flow properly and dirt or debris does not build up and block the air cooling. This is especially important in an air cooling system, because it has no coolant to get rid of the heat. Keeping the fins clean lets the air flow freely and helps to keep the engine at the best temperature.
