The driver must keep their own freedom of movement, the necessary field of vision and constant attention to driving, to ensure their own safety, that of the other occupants of the vehicle and that of other road users. Reading a newspaper or looking at a map while driving is risky behaviour that must be avoided, as is eating, drinking or any other behaviour that may distract us.
