Where the instructions given by different signs appear to contradict each other, the order of priority is as follows: signals and orders from traffic officers; temporary signs that change the normal use of the road, and fixed markers (beacons); traffic lights; road signs; road markings. Therefore the traffic light takes priority over the give way sign and the give way road marking.
