Heavy vehicles, large vehicles or vehicles that must keep to a specific speed limit that cannot keep fully to the right-hand edge of the carriageway will show that they can be overtaken safely by holding the arm out horizontally and moving it back and forth several times, with the back of the hand facing backwards, or by switching on the right indicator when they think the arm signal is not suitable.
