On a motorway, the acceleration lane is designed to let vehicles joining the motorway reach a suitable speed before merging with traffic in the main lane. It is not forbidden to drive faster than the vehicles in the main lane, because the purpose of the acceleration lane is precisely to make merging easier. The General Traffic Regulations do not expressly prohibit this, so drivers may increase their speed to match the traffic flow, always respecting the speed limits.
