Under Article 125.1 of the General Traffic Regulations (as worded by RD 518/2026), pedestrians may not walk on motorways (autopistas) or dual carriageways (autovías), except in the cases covered by Article 130, and may not ask for lifts anywhere on them, including the forecourts of toll stations.
