Traffic is a complex system in which all of us have some risk of having an accident. However, the chance of having an accident is not the same for everyone: some groups of people are more likely to be involved in road accidents or are much more sensitive to their harmful consequences. These are the so-called vulnerable groups. They include young drivers, older drivers, moped and motorcycle riders, cyclists and pedestrians (also older people and children).
