Road accidents are generally predictable events. If they were truly “accidental”, they would depend only on how much time a person spends at the wheel. But this is not the case: certain circumstances of the vehicle, the road, the surroundings and, above all, the driver increase the probability of an accident happening or of it being more serious. These circumstances are the so-called “risk factors”, and by avoiding them we reduce the chance of having a road accident to a minimum.
