Sunlight degrades the retroreflective strips of the vest over time and reduces its visibility. It is best to keep it inside the passenger compartment, within reach, for example in the glove box or under the seat, because you have to put it on before getting out of the vehicle; you cannot reach it in the boot without getting out.
