In cars, the load may only stick out at the rear of the vehicle. This means it may not stick out at the front or at the sides (where the windows are). At the rear, the load may stick out up to 10% of the vehicle's length if it is divisible and 15% if it is indivisible. It must be marked with the V-20 sign (a panel with alternating red and white stripes), which shows that the load sticks out at the rear. Use one V-20 panel, or two if the load sticks out across the whole width of the rear (their stripes then form an upside-down “V”). If you are also driving in poor light, you must also fit a red light.
