The zone of uncertainty is the space around a vehicle's driver that we cannot perceive because our senses are focused on another part of the space we are driving through, and in which vehicles, pedestrians and animals on the road may move unexpectedly. Each vehicle has a different zone of uncertainty: at the sides for a motorcycle, or behind, in front and at the sides for a car.
