Vehicles with an MAM over 3,500 kilograms travelling on roads outside built-up areas must always travel on the carriageway and never on the hard shoulder. When the road has more than one lane in their direction, they travel in the right-hand lane and may use the lane immediately to its left when traffic conditions make it advisable.
