The V-16 hazard warning device is a type-approved amber flashing light with geolocation, powered by its own battery. It must be placed on the highest part of the immobilised vehicle to ensure maximum visibility. At present the V-16 is the only legal option for signalling an immobilised vehicle or an obstacle on the road; warning triangles are no longer used.
