Explanation

Under Article 118.4 of the General Traffic Regulations (as worded by RD 518/2026), a motorcycle rider must wear a high-visibility reflective vest when getting off the motorcycle and stepping onto the carriageway or hard shoulder of a road outside a built-up area. In addition, from 1 October 2026 motorcycles must carry one as part of their compulsory equipment (Annex XII of the General Vehicle Regulations).
