Children 135 cm tall or shorter must travel in the rear; only exceptionally may they travel in the front, for example if there are no rear seats or the rear seats are occupied by other children. If the vehicle has a front airbag, a rear-facing system may only be used in the front with the airbag deactivated (Article 117.3 of the General Traffic Regulations).
